So, much like last week, I wasn’t intending to do another ‘Feeling the Pride’ comic… but then… this happened.
I think it’s really disappointing that Christchurch Pride is putting ‘cisgender men’ events on the pride calendar, and then defending their decision to do so.
I think it sucks for trans guys, and cis gay guys. It creates a situation that shames cis gay men for being attracted to trans gay men – by making that attraction seem unusual or undesirable.
In my experience there are a lot of Cis gay guys who are attracted to trans guys, and there are a lot of cis gay guys who feel really ashamed of that because that attraction is deemed less valued or embarrassing or just kind of policed.
Pride is a time of year where marginalised sexualities and genders should be celebrated – and that includes the sexual desires of all queer and gay people in our communities.
There’s heaps of good resources out there for trans guys who have sex with cis men, and vice versa – feel free to pop them in the comments and I’ll share them.
