I’m off on holiday tomorrow to visit family, and I still think of Holiday Pay as a super treat. It’s had me reflecting on being a contractor for about a decade on and off, and the trickiness of managing all of the business side of things – sick pay, holiday pay, coffee breaks, 40 hour working week etc. (most of the things that unions push for). These things are SO hard to manage when you’re responsible for your own income, systems aren’t easily set up to allow for all these things to happen – so if you’re a freelancer and you’re a good employee to yourself – I applaud you!
